QCTL, Inc. announces the addition of a new inspection technique to our full service crane/personnel lifting/material handling inspection services. As a user of third party crane inspection services, including dielectric testing, it is important that you are made aware that QCTL, Inc. can now provide grounding/jumpering cable testing in addition to our dielectric and basic crane/lift inspection services.
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.269 Subpart R Paragraph (n) applies to grounding of transmission and distribution lines and equipment for the protection of employees. It gives guidance regarding the use and placement of equipment but there are underlying compliance assumptions. It requires that for the protection of the worker “…..equipment shall be capable of conducting the maximum fault current that could flow at the point of grounding for the time necessary to clear the fault”.
This OSHA ruling references the need for protection beyond cable fusing. It implies that protective grounding equipment shall be tested periodically, to ensure it meets the protection requirements.
QCTL, Inc. can now provide this testing service for your organization. This technique can be economically incorporated into your normal hot stick or bucket truck inspection program. Our Chance Grounding Set Equipment is specifically designed to verify grounding compliance requirements quickly and with verifiable results.
Don’t let your safety program fall out of compliance.
If you have questions or would like to schedule this testing please contact one of our local customer service representatives. Thank you for your business and we look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
